In-class Full Body Certification Course

Study Hot Stone Therapy with one of our certified teachers. We regularly offer Hot Stone Courses in LONDON, KITCHENER, OTTAWA, HALIFAX (NEW), WINNIPEG AND CALGARY. We also offer a Home-Study/Correspondence option for those who are too far away to travel or prefer to study at their own pace. If you have a group of 8 or more students, we may be able to travel to your clinic or school.

COURSE DATES/LOCATIONS

The In-Class Course is a one day hands-on designed to teach students how to confidently perform a Full Body Hot Stone routine. We will teach you proper protocol for handling and caring for your stones. Each student will be required to complete 5 case studies and a written exam at home. Note that we do not require any video taping of your case studies, only the completed written reports. All completed work must be submitted to The Stone Massage Company for final grading purpose. Upon successful review, we will issue you a certificate in the mail. You will officially be certified as a Hot Stone Therapy Practitioner from The Stone Massage Company.

Course material includes a 100 page fully illustrated manual complete with a DVD(digital download). Topics Include:

History of hot stone therapy
Naturally formed stones versus mechanically tumbled stones
Properties of basalt stone and other types of stones
Effects of heat and cold on the body
Benefits of hot and cold stone therapy
Contraindications of hot stone therapy
How to heat and care for your stones
How to cleanse and re-energize your stones
Hot stone massage techniques
Massage oils and lotions
How to perform a hot stone massage full body routine
How to incorporate aromatherapy into hot stone therapy
Integrating chakra work into hot stone therapy
Setting up your therapy room and getting started as a hot stone therapy

During the In-Class Course, the first component of the course will focus on the history and theory of hot stone therapy based on material from our 100 page fully illustrated instructional manual and digital downloadable DVD (included with your tuition price). The remainder of the day will be dedicated to learning a full body hot stone routine. All students will first observe a full body hot stone massage demonstration by the course instructor, before moving on to giving and receiving a full body treatment.

Students are required to bring 2 sheets, and 3 towels. (1 large, 2 small)

Note: The Stone Massage Company reserves the right to reschedule a workshop date due to insufficient registration. In such a case, students will be notified by email or telephone.

KATHY SCHENK, RMT - Kitchener teacher. Kathy Schenk graduated from D'Arcy Lane Institute in 1993. She has been Certified in Heated Stone Therapy since 2000. She is also certified in Scar Release Therapy, Micro point stimulation Pain Relief Therapy, Low Level Laser Therapy, and Acupressure.

CHRISTINE BIZIER, BA, A.N.N - Ottawa teacher. Christine is a graduate of Carleton University and is currently a member of the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists. She is a soulful and intuitive healer and brings her healing energy into her toolbox of modalities ranging from esthetic spa, aromatherapy, nutrition, reiki and hot stone therapy. She loves to share her knowledge, wisdom and inspiration to help others move forward into their own journey.

STEFANIE SUSCHENKO, RMT - Winnipeg teacher. Stefanie recently completed her massage therapy program from The Massage Therapy College of Manitoba. She also brings with her a background in reiki and crystal healing. She is currently a Certified Yoga Teacher and incorporates stones into her Hot Stone Restorative Workshops. Stefanie regularly teaches Hot Stone Therapy courses in Winnipeg.

DONNALYNN SWORIK - London teacher. DonnaLynn is owner of Rejuvenate Now in London, ON promoting holistic health. She has been a certified Hot Stone Massage Practitioner since 2005 and is also a Reiki Master/Teacher, Kundalini Yoga Teacher, and Restorative Yoga Teacher. She is the first and only Canadian Certified Brain Longevity Specialist from the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation, promoting the 4 Pillars of Alzheimer’s Prevention.

ROSE PAUL, RMT - Nova Scotia teacher. We are super excited to welcome Rose as our new teacher in the East Coast. Rose works in the beautiful communities of Granville Ferry, Annapolis Royal, and Bridgetown in Southwest Nova Scotia. As a graduate of Alberta College of Massage Therapy, she provides registered massage therapy focusing on deep tissue, relaxation, myofascial and hot stone massage at her studio, Agate Massage & Wellness.

JENNIFER KOTHKE, RMT - Jen graduated from the Mount Royal University massage program in 2004. Since then, she has continued her learning with many different modalities. She is certified in Advanced Orthopedic Massage, Dynamic Cupping, Hot Stone massage, Prenatal & postnatal massage, Reflexology (Hands Ears & Feet), Reiki (Level 2 Usui) & Essential Oil Detox massage.
